Many theories of literature have come
up in the past days to cater to the needs of the
hour. In spite of the fact that many female
centered rituals are observed in many parts of
the world, most often it is alleged that human
society across the globe is male dominated. Of
such rituals, Dussera is one. It is believed that
all Hindu Gods considering themselves
powerless to overcome the buffalo demon
Mahishasura contributed their collective energy
(Shakti) to make a powerful deity, Durga, ‘the
inaccessible’. And Dussera is celebrated to mark
the victory of good over evil and virtue over vice.
